Hi,

I swear I saw this music video on RAGE after Youth Group recorded the song:

A cartoon of three guys and a dog jumping into a TV set and falling into various pop culture references like The Beatles “Yellow Submarine” etc. The song was “Forever Young” and seemed to be either an extended or remixed version. At first I thought it was the original Alphaville clip but apparently it isn’t and I’d like to know if anyone has any idea who’s responsible for it. It was a pretty good animation.

RAGE played the video clip of the skaters soon after so obviously it isn’t the original clip for Youth Group’s cover version but have you guys (Youth Group) ever made an alternate version?

This post is for Elisha – The song was originally released in 1984 by Alphaville, who originated in West Germany. The song was written by Marian Gold, lead singer of Alphaville, (and whose real name is Hartwig Schierbaum).
Just a year after the song’s initial release, pop singer Laura Branigan covered “Forever Young” on her album Hold Me and began a tradition of performing the song as an encore at her concerts.

Other artists to have covered “Forever Young” in the years since its original release include the Countdown Singers, DJ Space C, David Monte Cristo, DJ Company, Dune, BnH, Emil Wakin Chau, Fire & Ice, Interactive, Waterboy, Ella, Tune Up!, and Axel Rudi Pell.

And as you all know, in 2005 Youth Group were asked by the producers The O.C. to record a cover version of “Forever Young” – and everybody loved it! It’s a great tribute to Alphaville and I am a massive fan of theirs – few people know that Alphaville are still recording and performing live all over europe (except the UK – moreover Northern Ireland, which is sad, but hey, we’re Forever Young, right?)
